Just discovered this today a few weeks behind the rest of the world. Jessica Pratt gained prominence in the blogosphere during Hurricane Sandy and the aftermath. She crafts beautiful, melancholic folk that suits both the dreary, candlelit evenings of rain and sleet, and the sunny days to follow. There's a certain rawness to her music that draws me towards it, with analog tendencies and a washed yet colourful harmonic palette. She also shares the last name of a very dear friend of mine from my hometown.
Here is "Night Faces" from her gorgeous self-titled debut LP.
